Cloud
The Cloud Community of Practice is intended for those interested in the use of cloud-based systems, either as infrastructure (e.g., servers, networks in the cloud) or as services (e.g., pre-built web services). Cloud vendors will include Amazon, Microsoft and others as interest dictates. The purpose of the group is to provide education through formal presentations, informal discussion and active sharing of information and methods, and to develop an enjoyable interconnected peer group interested in learning about all things cloud with low vendor egoism.

Virtualized Desktop Infrastructure
A loose community of users of VDI exists on campus with no formal resources coordinated by the campus. Users of VMware, Citrix, or other solutions should be welcomed to this group, as should any group looking to roll out VDI to streamline their management of pools of similar or identical desktops, especially in a variety of places on campus.

The purpose of this group is to connect campus professionals who deal with the capture, storage and serving of video content. There are many uses for video content from advertisement to flipping classrooms to grant proposal videos. This group can share best practices, expertise and resources to better serve the whole university.

Data Storage
The Storage Community of Practice facilitates sharing information and challenges to help understand how we do what we do, where we can improve individually and collectively, and strengthen existing relationships to support and learn from each other. The group meets monthly to hear presentations from different IT professionals across campus on how storage is selected, set up, used (from multi-petabyte to department level storage solutions), best practices, and storage related topics of interest.

Some Linux Support
Most of the time campus I feel IT ignores linux because they think that it's not used enough and/or they all know what they're doing... Case in point: the complexity of supporting thunderbird in the new google universe. An expertise center/webpage would be useful.
